There’s a shift in our lives when we reach our forties. We are different, physically and emotionally than we were as young mothers. We may have carefully nurtured careers that we love, been stayed-at-home moms, or have jobs that are just … well, work.
The kids are growing up so fast and they’re looking at colleges. Soon, if it hasn’t happened already, they’ll be leaving and there will be one more life adjustment to be made.
It can feel so overwhelming!
But it doesn’t have to be.
My mission is to help you push back the overwhelm and find some creative solutions for the things that bother you the most.
I’m Evelyne, a wife (45 years), mother of 9, and my youngest two boys just left for their freshman year in college. We actually have FIVE college students right now!
I’ve already experienced a form of empty nest when our youngest biological daughter passed away at the age of 4.
Her siblings were much older and I went from 24/7 care to an empty house much of the time, and I’m finding that what I learned then has made this time around a lot more peaceful.
This time, our children have grown and gone through all of their adolescent stages and have become independent adults. Four of them attend college within a couple of hours so they are home for occasional weekends and vacations. We’re not quite at the empty nest stage yet.
While we are raising our family, every move is deliberate and measured.
We focus on doing all the things to nurture and grow our family. When they go through their teen years (at what seems like lightning speed!) and begin to pull away, it’s normal to find ourselves rudderless, without a specific plan.
Plotting A New Course is here to help you examine the possibilities, work your way through the things that overwhelm you, and create a second chapter to your life that will be as personally fulfilling as the first.
My own wandering is taking me in different directions and I love exploring the possibilities. On Plotting A New Course, I’ll be exploring:
- Self-Care
- Cooking for Two
- Date Night Ideas
- Learning How to Blog (because I love it and it’s a fabulous vehicle for women to express themselves)
- Giving Back
- Health & Fitness
- High School
- College and Distance Parenting
- The Sandwich Generation – taking care of your elders
- Grandchildren
- Travel and Adventures
- Learning New Things
- Your Home
